Forestry
Commission Scotland serves as the Scottish Government’s forestry directorate
and manages the 665,000 hectare national forest estate. The Commission’s
woodlands are making a difference to the well being of Scotland’s people and
their communities. Local woodlands act as a catalyst for communities to meet
up, get involved with projects and volunteering, or simply enjoy the many
walking trails, bike rides and peace and quiet that forests and woodlands
can offer. By developing more woodlands, especially near towns and cities,
woodlands can also improve healthier lifestyles and bring a boost to urban
development across Scotland.

under severe visitor and recreational pressures.
The Chase is a partner programme supported by Loch
Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, Forestry Commission Scotland, Scottish

Scotland's
natural heritage is its wildlife, habitats, landscapes and natural beauty.
Scotland is renowned for its attractive scenery and wild places and has a
huge diversity of landscapes, habitats and wildlife. These are part of what
makes Scotland special and are among the country's greatest assets.
Our work is about caring for the natural heritage,
enabling people to enjoy it, helping people to understand and appreciate it,
and supporting those who manage it.
All our work supports our mission: All of nature for
all of Scotland.
We are supporting The Chase because it is an
opportunity for people to enjoy the wonderful landscape of the Trossachs.
We hope that people will be inspired to visit other wild places, to
learn about their wildlife and to get involved in looking after Scotland’s
natural heritage.

EventScotland, the national events agency, was established in 2003 with the aim of strengthening
and promoting Scotland’s events industry. EventScotland does this by attracting, generating and
sustaining a portfolio of world class events in Scotland. In 2009, EventScotland launched the new
national events strategy which will lead Scotland’s events industry into and beyond 2020.
The national events strategy, Scotland: The Perfect Stage, outlines a clear mission and vision
to further establish Scotland as a world leading event destination, to grow the industry and the
expertise within it and to deliver events which provide impact and international profile for Scotland.

ScottsLand,
is a diverse progamme of cultural and literary events to
mark the 200th anniversary of the publication of Sir Walter
Scott’s poem The Lady of the Lake which transformed popular perspectives of the
landscape and generated the first surge of tourists to the Trossachs and
Scotland.
The events which have been co-ordinated and promoted by The National Park
will run from June to October 2010 throughout the Trossachs and in Edinburgh
and Stirling. ScottsLand
celebrates the incredible legacy of the poem and one of Scotland’s most
stunning landscapes and explores its impact on Scotland’s cultural identity.

Part of your contribution will go towards conservation work at the RSPB’s Inversnaid nature reserve.
Located on the banks of Loch Lomond, the reserve’s ancient oak woodland and open moorland offers a
refuge for some of Scotland’s most iconic birds and animals, like the golden eagle, black grouse and pine marten.
The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. Established in 1972, the Trust
owns over 1,000 woods stretching the length and breadth of the country. Our vision is to have a UK
rich in native woods and trees enjoyed and valued by everyone.
